Around the corner is the former machine building of the Water Company. The building dates from 1898 and now houses the famous Café-Restaurant Amsterdam. There are many other dining options in the area, including the nearby Haarlemmerstraat. For groceries, Haarlemmerstraat has delicatessens and supermarkets. The popular Westerpark is ideal for walking or running. Festivals are also regularly organized. The Jordaan is within walking distance.
The public transport facilities are very good. The ring roads to Schiphol, Utrecht and The Hague, for example, can be reached quickly.
